Book Editing Services
Editorial Assessments
This is the first step of your book editing journey. You typically want an editorial assessment if you’re looking for initial information about your manuscript and whether there are any big-picture issues that need solving.
These assessments typically range 5-10 pages, but that page count can vary.
Proofread
The proofread focuses entirely on ensuring your manuscript is correct. This means the manuscript that returns to you will be grammatically correct and will have been reviewed for any additional errors. If you require additional editing services, I’ll also provide you with recommendations with your final manuscript.
Developmental editing
This is the next step of your book editing journey. You may want to choose developmental editing if you need something a little more thorough than an editorial assessment. The developmental edit includes feedback throughout your manuscript. You can expect to have comments both in the margins and in a separate document that details what works and what doesn’t.
Formatting
It can be hard knowing how to format your manuscript, which is why I’m here to help. There are different formatting requirements depending on your publishing journey and type of book you want to publish, which is where I come in. Send me an email to learn more about my formatting services!
Copy editing
When you choose copy editing, you can expect me to go through your entire manuscript to edit phrases and make them more readable. This is more thorough than a proofread as it considers your genre and individual writing style. The goal in this is to optimize your writing without changing what you’re saying or your tone of voice. The copy edit also aims to remove errors in punctuation and grammar.
